Complications after skull surgery

Cranial surgery, although essential for the treatment of many brain diseases, like any other cranial surgery, can be associated with complications. These complications can range from mild to severe and depend on various factors such as the type of surgery, the patient’s age, general health status, and the skill of the surgeon.

Some common complications after skull surgery include: headache, swelling in the surgical area, infection, bleeding, seizures, memory and concentration problems, sensory and motor disturbances, and, in rare cases, damage to nerves or brain tissue. The severity and duration of these complications vary from person to person, and many of them improve with time and appropriate treatment.

In addition to the complications mentioned above, some more serious complications after surgery may also occur: blood clots in the brain, cerebrospinal fluid leaks, and damage to vital brain structures are other complications of skull surgery.

So far, no specific complications have been reported in surgeries performed using Danawell‘s cranial prostheses.

Post-cranial surgery care

To reduce the risk of complications and recover more quickly after skull surgery, it is important to take the following precautions:

Get plenty of rest: Get plenty of rest and avoid strenuous activity for a few weeks after surgery.

Take medications: Take your prescribed medications regularly as directed by your doctor. These medications may include painkillers, antibiotics, and anticonvulsants.

Wound care: Keep the surgical wound clean and dry and prevent infection.

See a doctor if you experience any unusual symptoms, such as severe headache, fever, weakness, or changes in mental status.

As mentioned above, custom-made prostheses made by Danawell have not had any side effects for patients so far.
